Frequently asked questions

Are towels provided?
Yes hand and bath towels are provided, along with a small soap and shower gel. All the rooms also have hairdryers.

Do we have to land at Lyon/Geneva at a certain time?
Yes, we have transfers leaving in the afternoon. Departing flights should usually be booked for after 15.30. But please liaise with us about your flight times when you book on the course.

How do I meet the transfer?
You will be met on arrival by a member of the team who will be wearing a green Mountain Cookery School polo shirt and carrying a sign.

How long is the transfer?
The transfer from Lyon or Geneva to Tignes takes approximately 3 hours.

Are drinks provided on the course?
Yes, soft drinks are provided throughout the day, and wine or soft drinks are served with dinner.

What clothes should I bring?
During July and August the weather is generally hot – between 25 and 30 degrees. In September and October it gets colder. The weather in the mountains can be changeable and there are often thunderstorms, so bring clothes for all eventualities! For the course you will need to wear trousers rather than shorts, and covered shoes rather than flip flops. You can wear any t-shirt you are happy to cook in. We will provide you with an apron.

If I’m vegetarian or have special dietary requirements, can I still attend the course?
Yes of course – we are happy to cater for any dietary requirements and can adapt all our recipes to suit you.

Do I get any time off?
Yes, during all our courses there are 3 or 4 hours off each afternoon. There is also one full day off per week to enjoy all Tignes has to offer.

Do I need to bring anything?
If you have a laptop or tablet, bring it with you – but it’s not a requirement. You may also wish to bring trainers/walking shoes, sun cream, swim wear, EHIC card, adaptor plugs, camera, decent sunglasses and a waterproof jacket.
